I hope you are in an Italian mood today because I have a very special Italian song to share with you today. Have you heard Alessandro Safina sing?
Yes the picture is very large...but...well...he is rather, shall I say, good looking!
I hope that Lindy Lou who blogs about her beautiful Italian life in her blog "News from Italy" enjoys today's Sunday Song post about one of my favourite (and most gorgeous!) Italian singers!
Here is another picture....
So not only is Alessandro Safina very handsome but he is also an Italian operatic tenor who has combined his opera roots with modern-day pop music. He discovered his passion for singing at very early age; he was only nine years old when he started studying music, and immediately showed a specific fondness and talent for classical music.
His parents were ardent lovers of the opera, and instilled their son with this passion of theirs from the beginning and he started attending a musical academy when he was just twelve years old. At 17 years old he entered the Conservatorio di Musica 'Luigi Cherubini' in Florence and in 1989, he won the first prize at the 'Concorso Lirico Internazionale' in Mantova, a competition dedicated to Italian soprano singer Katia Ricciarelli. The prize marked the start of his career in the world of opera. His rise to stardom began in the '90s where he was discovered by the Italian pianist/composer Romano Musumarra, and the pair quickly began to record together, in an attempt to bring Safina's dream of creating a "soulful new pop opera music" to fruition. The end result was Safina's self-titled debut of September 2001.
In 2001 Safina contributed to the score of Baz Luhrmann’s film Moulin Rouge!. He performed Elton John's Your Song with Ewan McGregor.
In September 2001 his concert Only You was taped in the amphitheatre El Greco in Taormina, Sicily. The concert was later broadcast in the series Great Performances by American public channel PBS and released in 2003 on DVD.
He has also performed on stage across Europe in Puccini's La Bohème and Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.
Safina's definitive breakthrough to a pop audience took place in The Netherlands in November 2000, when he performed at the prestigious The Night Of The Proms celebration. His single "Luna" which I am featuring today, stayed at the top of the charts for 14 weeks. Another two immensely successful Dutch concerts followed in 2001, this time in The Hague and Amsterdam, and took the very handsome tenor's success to new heights. Source
I hope you enjoy Alessandro Safina's beautiful song, "Luna"!

Very, very nice. Maggie likes!
He has a beautiful rich tenor the likes of Placido Domingo - his eyes remind me of P.D., too. The rest of him is SO handsome! I bet he was amazing in La Boheme!
