Say G'day Saturday Linky Party {93}: The Power of a +1 on Google.

G'day lovely friends and welcome to Natasha in Oz and welcome to this week's Say G'day Saturday Linky Party! This link up keeps getting bigger and better each week and I am so grateful to YOU for your support!

Say G'day Saturday Linky Party

We are a happy crew at our house as the Winter school holidays started today! We are looking forward to three weeks of relaxation, sleeping-in, movie-watching, reading and beach-going.

Take me to the #beach (via http://www.natashainoz.com/2014/06/friday-favorites-this-weeks-pinning.html)

I will also be doing some heavy duty blog post planning in preparation for a busy term ahead next term. I will be taking another teaching contract which I'm ever so grateful for but I know it's going to be busy. I am going to try and prepare a few blog posts now so I will have some regular content next term. I don't want to fall into the trap that I fell into last year when I was so snowed under with work that I couldn't find time to look after my poor blog.

Thank goodness Google+ helped me get my numbers back up again-I would have been lost without Google+ traffic! I know I have already shared (many times!) how important Google+ is for bloggers but I just want to highlight yet another reason for us to keep giving our bloggy friends a +1!

Top 5 Superfoods For Health and Wellbeing

What is a superfood? According to the Macmillan dictionary, a superfood is a food that is considered to be very good for your health and could even help some medical conditions. Some believe the term ‘superfood’ is simply a clever a marketing tool, with little scientific basis to it. I think it's true to say that any single food will not make a major difference on its own but when we eat a healthy and varied diet that includes some of these superfoods, we are definitely doing a good thing for our bodies.

These foods are my Top 5 Superfoods For Health and Wellbeing because they are natural, contain high levels of antioxidants, vitamins and other nutrients, and their nutritional value has been long recognized.

1. Dark, leafy and cruciferous green vegetables such as cabbage, kale, bok choy, collard greens, spinach, Brussels sprouts and broccoli are considered superfoods. These vegetables are loaded with fibre, vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals.

Say G'day Saturday Linky Party {92} ~ Faffing About!

G'day dear friends! Welcome to Natasha in Oz, my little corner of happiness in the blog world and welcome to this week's Say G'day Saturday Linky Party!

Say G'day Saturday Linky Party

I hope you have had a great week and are ready for the weekend! I have had a few days substitute teaching but I've also had a few moments to get some chores done and just faff around the house.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the art of faffing let me just quickly tell you a little bit about it!

Definition of faff in English:

VERB
to spend your time doing a lot of things that are not important instead of the thing that you should be doing:
"We can’t faff around forever."
"I didn't do anything on Sunday; I just faffed around the house."
Origin

'Faffing about' is a phrase that is most often heard in the UK rather than in other parts of the English-speaking world. In fact, even in the UK it is something of an anachronism, more at home in a P G Wodehouse story than as 21st century street slang.

'Faff' has been used to mean 'dither; fuss; flap' since the 19th century. The Church of England clergyman, author, and folksong collector Sabine Baring-Gould recorded it in Yorkshire Oddities, 1874:

T' clock-maker fizzled an' faff'd aboot her, but nivver did her a farthing's worth o' good.

So now I've cleared that up here some results of my 'faffing about' ie spending my time styling a coffee table instead of cleaning the house!

Tuesday Tune: 'Home' by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

G'day Sweet friends. Welcome to Natasha in Oz and welcome to this week's Tuesday Tune post!

Tuesday Tune: 'Home' by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

This week the temps have finally dropped here in Brisbane and I think that Winter has arrived!

Welcome, #Winter!

I love winter and am relishing the the thought of spending some relaxing days at home with the kids when the winter holidays start in a couple of weeks. There's nothing like sleeping in on cold winter mornings, snuggling under warm blankets at the end of a cold day and indulging in comfort food to warm the body and the soul.

I can't wait to relax and enjoy being at HOME!

Home, let me come home,
Home is wherever I'm with you
Our home, yes, I am home,
Home is when I’m alone with you

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.

Well, I've had an incredibly busy week and so I just want to apologize for not visiting you all and posting my Friday Favorites post this week.

To make up for it
I will be pinning and sharing
every single one of the posts
from last week and this week!

I have a good excuse though I think.... I am happy to say that Madeleine is now at the half way mark of her final year of schooling!

Madeleine has been doing End-of-Semester exams and assessment all week and she is totally exhausted! I'm exhausted from just keeping her enthused while she was recovering from a cold, helping her draft essays and keeping her sustained during long periods of study. I actually made a special batch of Chocolate Almond and Date Protein Balls to give her energy during her study sessions and she really loved them so I thought I'd share the recipe with you today.

Tuesday Tune Tribute to Rik Mayall with Cliff Richard and The Young Ones

Welcome friends to this week's Tuesday Tune post.

Tuesday Tune Linky Party, TV Tunes, Tuesday Tune, Natasha in Oz

Today I am so sad because one of my favourite comedians passed away at only 56 years of age. Rik Mayall was a comedic genius and was truly one of the most talented people of British TV and film. His career included appearances in shows including Blackadder, Bottom and The New Statesman.

The BBC's director of television Danny Cohen called Mayall a "truly brilliant comedian".

"His comic timing was outstanding and his screen presence unique. For a generation of viewers he was a true comedy hero," he added.
