Giving Thanks For...Sea shells by the sea shore!

Hello and welcome to Natasha in Oz! Our family loves going to the beach! We try to go to the beach as often as we can and sometimes we go just for the day. Our favourite beach is at Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast.

The golden sand there is perfect for making sandcastles and the waves are never too rough. When we go to the beach we have certain rituals...we didn't plan it this way, this is just what we seem to always do....

After finding the perfect spot I go for a walk along the beach and collect shells and rocks while D and the kids surf and swim. When I come back I sit in my beach chair and watch them all having fun whilst I try to catch up on some reading. Eventually, the kids come out of the water and we make sandcastles together and D catches some more waves. We go on a final walk together to look for other treasures and to see what has been washed up on the beach. Then we head home.

Here's 3 things that we saw last time we went to Mooloolaba:

A dried up pod from a Pandanus tree

A beautiful shore....

and 2 friends for life....

When we get home we clean our shells and we put them in a big bowl on our coffee table so we can remember our beach holidays every day of the year.

Some of these shells are souvenirs that we have bought when on holidays elsewhere but most of them are from Mooloolaba.

I love this piece of driftwood that A found for me last year.

So,today, the 2nd day of the Tatum's 30 days of Thanksgiving,  I am spending 5 minutes giving thanks for family holidays, seashells and the beach. Jacques Cousteau said “the sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever” and I definitely agree with him!

I will also be linking this post to Three or More Tuesday over at the Gypsy's Corner and to the Southern Dreamer's  Outdoor Wednesday.

Please visit these beautiful sites to see what other amazing things people have to share.

Best wishes always,
Natasha In Oz.

If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.

  10. Hi, darlin' girl...I love the water and beaches so much. We live on the dusty plains of West Texas and have no water such as this.
When we DO get to go to the beach, I just flop down on that wonderful sand and want to melt right into it. I love the water, waves, shells, the SeaGulls (one deposited his....well you know, on me once..and the grandkids laughed and laughed
    This is a magnificent post!!

  13. Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a sweet comment! Isn't funny how you can connect with someone so far away and find you have so much in common? My family and I love going to the beach, too. We try to go there every summer. I wish I could go more often. Although I've lived in a land-locked area my whole life, it doesn't feel like me for some reason. I need to be need to be near water.

  18. How lovely this post is! I love to go shelling, too, and I have shells from my childhood beach adventures with my parents... like the first trip to the Bahamas, etc. I also have shells that belonged to my grandmother and to my husband's. The wonderful thing about shells is that they are all like special gifts from God, and it sounds like your family really appreciate their beauty. I do, too. I also love to find sea glass.

    Happy Outdoor Wednesday...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)
