G'day friends and welcome to another week! Thanks for visiting me today. I hope you can stay for 5 minutes so I can show you my Vintage Spoon Rack Makeover
A while ago I blogged about my very messy spoon drawer....
I really wanted to display these spoons but I didn't want to spend a lot of money. A couple of weekends ago when we went to look at the local antique markets I found this old spoon rack.
I decided that I would give it a quick coat of paint and pretty it up a bit!
I found some left-over sample pots from when we renovated our kitchen, mixed a few colours together with some white paint and made a pale grey colour.
And Voila! After 2 coats of paint and a little light sanding I finally have somewhere to display my spoon collection!
I am now trying to find some nice old plates to display on the other side of the painting.
I am so happy that my spoons are now on display. My daughter is making a little felt decoration for me to place at the top of the rack so that I can cover up the hook. I will hopefully be able to share pictures of her little creation soon.
Thanks again for visiting and I hope that you have a fantastic week. Be sure to check out this week's Say G'Day Linky Party for more makeover, tutorials, recipes, crafts and inspiration!
Best wishes always,
Natasha In Oz
Please join me each weekend for the Say G'day Saturday Linky Party!
What a transformation... great!
ReplyDeleteOh I must send you some photos of what my friend is doing with cutlery , all sort of jewelries are made using that and I'll make sure your collection is safe :)
ReplyDeleteGreat project, I love the paint choice.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure these spoons bring back many memories.
:-)
The color is perfect for the silver color spoons. The photograph coloring pulls the two pieces together. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll drop by AtticMag this week to tour my home.

ReplyDeleteThe color blue you mixed up looks fabulous with your silver spoons.
ReplyDeleteGood Job.
Natasha,
ReplyDeleteNow you have an extra drawer to fill as well. Love what you did to the spoon rack. Have you looked for decorative hooks. Sometimes they are in framing shops and I have found some pretty designs like that.
Happy Monday,
Debi
You are so smart and nice to show us your project in progress; turned out Spectacular.

ReplyDeleteYou are only the second person I know who collects spoons! My mum has been collecting for years and years, even now she asks me to get her one. The last one I bought her was of Titisee in Germany.
Natasha-I love love that gray! It is so nice to be able to display and enjoy the things that mean something to us! This looks great. I love the picture on the beach (I enlarged :)I think plates would look great on the other side!

I would love to spend at least five minutes with you every day. Your blog is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have three beautiful cloches in the cave and I only take them out in the summer. I do love them. I think I'll bring one up and see what I can do with it.
You've inspired me.
It is so lovely to have found you and I see from the list of comments here many of my friends think you're special too.
Warm regards,
Tish
The gray is a nice update. It showcases the spoons without the sharp contrast of the old brown.
ReplyDeleteThanks to my friend "Anne" further up this comments page finding you while surfing, here I am as well!
ReplyDeleteYour Blog looks fun and I will be back:)
I like how you have displayed your spoon collection. Have you visited all those places? I spotted one from Stonehenge, some of our family live in Salisbury.
I have to admit, I have never been much of a spoon person, but after seeing your adorable collection you make me want to start collecting! Marcia
ReplyDeleteLook at all those spoons...what fun! My friend has a collection she inherited form her Mother in Law...I have always enjoyed the way they look. Your display is fantastic...great transformation. Thanks for stopping by 504 Main!
