Have you heard the beautiful Lisa Gerrard sing? I bet you have but you might not have actually known it!
She is an Irish-Australian musician, singer and composer.Gerrard received a Golden Globe Award for the music score for the film Gladiator, on which she collaborated with Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt. Her voice is haunting and has been described as "distinctive, floating effortlessly between sepulchral and heavenly, and often featuring the yangqin (Chinese dulcimer)....electronica with a Middle-Eastern spice, laced with an octave-defying, operatic voice." Image and Bio from The Melbourne Age.
In November 2012, she won Feature Film Score of the Year for her score to Jonathan Teplitzky's Burning Man at the 2012 APRA Screen Music Awards. The win follows on from her win for the same score at the Film Critics Circle of Australia Awards.

Hi Natasha,
ReplyDeleteNice to have you back. Being a substitute teacher is very hard. I have "semi-retired" myself from teaching due to a work accident. I miss it so much but its very difficult while we are still raising a family of our own. I remember how I felt not being able to attend special functions at my child's school. I could not be at "meet the teacher night" because I was hosting the same thing in my class. I felt so guilty. I would often spend all my Sundays marking and preparing and I cant count the number of colds I caught from the students. So I fully understand your comments. Re-reading some of my posts I can see that I am still somewhat writing lesson plans...You know, intro, body, conclusion...I have to laugh at myself. Thank you for the award, its my first and thank you for the recommendation. Its very much appreciated! Love those roses your husband bought you. How sweet is he? I'm off to listen to Ms. Lisa. I hope it does not make me cry. It does not take much. Best regards,
Anne-Marie
