Organizing a Pantry: Pantry Ideas and Inspiration.

G'Day and welcome to Natasha In Oz! I'm so glad you have found time in your busy day to spend some time with me in my little corner of the world!

Today I am so excited to be sharing some pictures of my pantry with you! I know people don't normally get excited about pantries but, well, I am so in love with mine!

According to Wikipedia, a pantry is a room where food, provisions
or dishes are stored and served in an ancillary capacity to the kitchen. The derivation of the
word is from the same source as the Old French term paneterie; that is from
pain, the French form of the Latin pan for bread.

Pantries can be big....

Or they can be Petite.

They can be neat,

Safely Packed

And they can be well-used and piled high with stuff!

Catherine Pond's love of pantries inspired her to write a book about them!

She says...“Unlike the sterile Victorian workrooms and their even smaller successors, today’s kitchen—whether large or small—is the deliberate center of the American home…According to a 2005 National Association of Home Builders survey, walk-in pantries are the most requested feature in kitchens today. Perhaps it is the popular return of home cooking and baking. Perhaps it stems from the 1990s trend of nesting and stockpiling for the ‘new millennium,’ world disaster, or a cozy blizzard. Perhaps it is because a good pantry makes sense.”

  2. thanks for sharing your pantry! I have the same set of tupperware, except my lids are navy blue!

  3. I definitely love those pull-out drawers! They are so convenient.

  4. I love organization and storage. Those pantry photos literally quickened my pulse!

  5. I don't have one of those fabulous walk-in pantries--just a "reach-in" pantry that is not near as organized as yours. You've inspired me though--think I'll go move a few things around before I lose this feeling!

  6. Your delight in details tickles me - I am not so detailed and I appreciate it in you...

  7. I have a very small pantry. I wish it was much larger. Yours looks just about the right size. Good P post for Alphabe-Thursday.

  8. What a well-organized Pantry!
The Great Dane built me a pantry, but it goes through phases and right now is in the messy phase, which comes right before the wild-organizing-spree phase. No photos of the pantry as it is!

  9. Hello Natasha,

I love a well organized pantry. I love your pull out drawers. Your pantry looks great! Read your response to someone's inquiry about them and I am going to check out IKEA to see if they have some pull outs I can use for my pantry. I started to remodel mine last year but still have a few changes I would like to make. I used to have a whole lot of Tupperware but now I use a lot of glass containers I found while thrifting.

    ~ Tracy

  12. Hi Natasha, I am still making PS rounds, it is fun to do them all week. My pantry is half cleaned up now, it shares the room with the laundry and freezer. I also have been storing my fabric, soap, herb, and scrapbooking supplies in there, now the fabric and scrapbooking have mover out, wahoo...more room. The room is 8 by 30. Oh and my fridge is in there, too. Welcome to PS.

  13. I would love your pantry. My pantry is puny.

  14. Oh, I'd like to have a couple of those big one. I'm always needing more storage. I love your tupperware, so organized.

  15. wish i had a bigger better pantry after reading your post :D

  16. We have the same pantry Natasha. It is scary. Unfortunately mine is not so neat!!xx

  17. I loved having a pantry. No pantry at this house. I hate pink milk, though, bleargh!

  18. Natasha, thank you for joining my party! I love your pantry. I only wish mine was stocked so well. Hope to see you again.

  19. Natasha - I love your pantry and the color of you kitchen cabinets is beautiful. All the pictures you posted make me want to run to my kitchen, throw everything out of my cabinets, and organize!

  20. Your pantry is perfect. But what, pray tell is piri pin? I was very intriqued with that.

Those super organized pantries scare me just a bit.

How much pressure is there to maintain that?

    Too much for me obviously!

Thanks for this fun post on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "P"!

  21. Hi Natasha,

I love the look of your pantry. I too have done some make over work to my pantry but then I didnt store any food there. Instead I place my vintagey porcelain in there. Thanks for sharing.

  22. That is a great pantry, but man that is a LOT of tupperware! But it is good inspiration to get organized.

  23. You certainly have a lovely kitchen and a wonderful pantry. I love having a place for everything, don't you? Hugs, Cindy S

  26. I love this pantry post Natasha. Gorgeous.

  27. my pantry is nonexistant ... i really wish i had one!

  28. Our kitchen does have a pantry, but I believe that it was an after thought and not well planned. The makeover is on the we'll-never-get-to-it-list.
For Sunday I thought I might post my recorder music by Panero to go along with your panpipes. If it is not a pleasing pick for placement, please prune it - I will not pout.

  29. Thanks so much for visiting Mya! I am still not sure what song I will be posting on Sunday...I am now thinking of posting something my Mum will like for Mother's day! Decisions Decisions...

    Best wishes,

  30. What a Perfect Post, Natasha!! I'm envious of your beautifully functional Pantry!

  31. Fun post...makes me think I need to organize our pantry...again!

  32. Perfect P Post! When I saw that firs photo I went WOW. To have a pantry like that would be amazing. I'd use it for storing dishes! LOL
Our pantry is more like yours, only half the size. We have a narrow cabinet with pull out shelves. My dream is to have a butler's pantry.
Thanks for sharing the pantry photos. Great post!

  33. good morning, natasha!

i loved your pantry party. some of
    the extremely beautiful and organized
pantries are lovelier than my living

  34. I am getting ready to build a pantry off my kitchen, thanks for the info, I'll have to look for the Pantry book...

  35. I'm sort of ashamed to admit that my pantry resembles the messy, cluttered ones more than the organized ones. Every time (and I do, literally, mean every single time) I go in there, I think "boy, I really need to clean this up". And if it were up to me, it would stay that way. Sadly, as we all know, that's not the case!

Great Foodie Friday AND Alphabe-Thursday post!

  36. i wish i had a nice big pantry organized to the hilt....but alas, i don't...i just have a box filled with stuff. ugh

  37. I have a nice big pantry........but you would not know it because it is so unorgainized.

  38. Hello Natasha and welcome to Pink Saturday.
I don't have a pantry at all, just 2 little shelves LOL. Ahhhhh now I'm dreaming, maybe it will come true.
    Hugs and love, joey

  39. My pantry is so full.. I did take out all the 'wire racks' and put in proper wood shelving.. it's so much better now...
Yours is the perfect size.. if mine was larger, more space to keep clean...
    I enjoyed your post!

  40. Wow! I would love to be so organized! Maybe a new goal to reach for?!

    Great post!

  41. Hi Natasha,

    Happy Pink Saturday!

  53. I like your pantry post. I think the book may make me very jealous. I have a bit of a small pantry. :( I really like your pull out drawers!!

  54. Our pantry is very small, and I'm short and have a hard time reaching the top shelf. I've been considering installing the pull out drawers, such a great idea. This was a fun post. Can you imagine having a pantry like that first one? I'm afraid I'd get lost :) Kathy

  55. I loved the peek into your pantry. I always want to take a look when I visit a friends home. I am always intrigued by the different foods we have.

  56. Love all the photos of the pantries! Great blog.

  57. Hi Natasha-

I love to see an organized pantry. I used to have mine in a small closet, but then we took a closet in my mudroom and expanded it. I love it now. It is interesting how many staples in your pantry look the same as mine and others with different packaging for Australia brands. I never saw the book. I am going to go to Amazon and see if I can still order it - I know I will love it.

    My best- Diane

  58. Really well organized Natasha! Thank you for joining me at Home Sweet Home!
