Have you heard Delta Goodrem sing?
Delta Lea Goodrem (born 9 November 1984) is an Australian singer-songwriter, pianist, and actress. Signed to Sony at the age of 15, Goodrem rose to prominence in 2002, starring in the popular Australian soap Neighbours and this helped her establish an international music career. She has achieved eight number 1 singles here in Australia. She has achieved eight number 1 ARIA singles and multiple UK Top 10 singles.
Her debut album, 2003's Innocent Eyes, made her one of Australia's highest selling female recording artists of all time, spending 29 weeks at number 1,selling well over a million copies in Australia and 3.5 million internationally.Source
Goodrem went on to win 7 ARIA awards in 2003, out of 10 nominations. But, in 2003, at the age of 18 and amidst her blooming career, Goodrem was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She has since made a full recovery but is still in remission and now devotes a great deal of her time promoting cancer charities. She regularly visits sick children in hospital and uses her own experience with cancer to help raise awareness for other young people affected by the disease. She established the "Delta Goodrem Leukemia and Lymphoma Research Trust Fund", in support of cancer research and in May 2005, Goodrem helped launch "Teen Info on Cancer", a UK website aimed at supporting young teenage sufferers.
In 2006, Goodrem's career was back on track and she performed a self-penned song, 'Together We Are One,' at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games. The song has since appeared on the 2006 version of American Idol as a group song for the top five finalists and was again performed on the American Idol Season 9 Finale as a farewell tribute to Simon Cowell by seven former American Idol champions: Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Taylor Hicks, and Kris Allen.
Another song, 'Eyes on Me,' was selected by Celine Dion for her latest album 'Taking Chances'. Goodrem said, "To hear 'Eyes on Me' sung by a woman I've looked up to all my life - that's an amazing feeling." Source

If you have ever shared a song on your blog I would so LOVE to hear it! Please feel free to link up any song you would like to share from any of your posts, new or old.

Today I am linking my song with the Spiritual Sundays Meme, hosted by Charlotte and Ginger because I think this song explores the theme of the importance of faith when trying to explain the inexplicable.
Best wishes for a great week,

ReplyDeleteI quite like Delta. She is a great singer and is a very pretty girl too. My hubby has actually seen her sing a few songs at a work conference he went to in Brisbane early last year, and even he said she wasn't too bad!! He even called me on his mobile from the concert so I could hear her sing - isn't that sweet! And yes Natasha, it has cooled down a bit up here lately. Still beautiful days but not as humid. Sometimes a little chilly late at night, but only because its dropped to low 20s!! Have a great long weekend :)
