#TuesdayTune ~ Harry Potter!

Hello dear friends and welcome to this week's Tuesday Tune!

I have had a great weekend and a lovely day today. We spent the day in the CBD Mall to do some Christmas shopping and to see latest Harry Potter film. It was truly gripping and the ending was a real cliffhanger. We can't wait to see part 2!

One of the many things that I love about all of the Harry Potter movies is the music. The soundtrack is always amazing. I especially loved the muisc from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the film based on the novel of the same name by J. K. Rowling. It is the fifth instalment in the Harry Potter film series and it is known for being significantly darker than the other four films.

Nicholas Hooper was the composer for the soundtrack of the film, following on from John Williams, who scored the first three films, and Patrick Doyle, who did the fourth. For the new score, Hooper and the London Chamber Orchestra recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. Like I mentioned previously, the score, like the film and book, is darker than previous instalments in the series. To emphasise this, a Japanese Taiko drum was used for a deeper sound in the percussion. The soundtrack was released on 10 July 2007, the eve of the film's release. For his work on the film, Hooper was nominated for a World Soundtrack Discovery Award.

There are two pieces that I really enjoy listening to from this soundtrack. The first one is called Flight of the Order of the Phoenix and the second is called Fireworks. Please let me what you think of these two great pieces. I sure do hope that you enjoy them as much as I do!

I hope you enjoyed this week's #TuesdayTune!

Best wishes for a fabulous week,

  1. Hi Natasha,
Aren't you lucky to have seen the latest HP movie! Sister Kathryn in the UK and her youngest son, Nick, have seen it too. I'll have to watch it dubbed into French! That just wouldn't be the same though would it?
Maybe I'll wait until the DVD comes out.

  2. I'm not a big fan of dark things, however having a daughter that made me watch almost all of Harry Potter I have to admit that it's unique.
    Great choice for the music.

  4. I enjoyed listening to the music from Harry Potter this morning both great choices. I think HP is a series I only read because I had children, enjoyed them though and the films. I think I will wait until I can see it in English though!
I hope you have had a good weekend with better weather than we have here in Italy.

  5. These are both very good. It was a nice reminder that I haven't ventured too far out of my own musical circle in a while. My family saw the HP film at midnight the day it opened and really enjoyed it. I had paid attention to the music and liked it. I especially like the song that played on the radio while Harry and Hermione were dancing. (Leave it to me to like the one pop song in the whole movie!)

  8. Harry Potter is big news here in London--only eclipsed by that royal couple announcing their wedding news!

    Have a great week,
    Debi

  9. I did not realize that the film was being made in two parts...a good way to get your audience back.

Before I see the latest,I think I will look at the prior films to bring me up to date. Since we are about to begin the Christmas season that might take a while!

Chester is a beauty of a budgie.

  10. You have such wonderful posts!!! I too am a HP fan and my bestie and I always go to opening night, buy a spearmint choctop and settle down sans children. Our reason is that we need to check it out first to see if it is suitable for the kiddies to see. Our excuse really. We text each other with the number of sleeps to go!!! I agree - the music is phenomenal but I didn't know all the other information. Thank you!!..

  11. Oh, I think I may be the only one who never jumped into the Harry Potter craze. It came out just as I retired from teaching. Perhaps I should rent the DVDs and get informed. LOL
Happy Day to you! ~ Sarah

  18. Hi Natasha-

I love the music from Harry Potter, too. I bought all the CDs. My daughters used to put them on to study and do their homework - they said it helped them concentrate. I love everything John Williams creates. I am eager to see the movie.

    My best- Diane

  19. We always love the same music! I have this soundtrack too and you listed two of my faves. I also like Dumbledore's Army and The Kiss.

I am a gigantic HP fan and cannot believe that I have not seen DH yet- I have been waiting for a year and a half! I was out of town this weekend and Cooper had a stomach virus. But tomorrow night, I am there- woo! :D
