These beautiful Sakura flowers, the Japanese cherry blossom, would have to be one of my very favourite flowers. They are so pretty and unique. They are also a favourite because they represent hope. Today, these flowers are a sign of the hope that we all hold for the thousands of people who have suffered in Japan over the past week.

My prayers go out to everyone who has been affected by the earthquake and tsunamis in Japan. I am dedicating this week's Sunday Song to our friends in Japan. I hope they know that they are not alone in this long and harrowing journey towards 
re-building and recovering from this terrible natural disaster.  



I thought that this week we could share any posts we have published about our friends in Japan. It can be a reflection, a song, a poem, lyrics to a song, anything.

    Hello fellow Ozzie, Nice to meet you here. The people in Japan certainly have had a terrible time. One thing I have observed from the news broadcasts is no referance to looting. They seem a very sweet respectful race.
    Those cherry blossoms are beautiful.I cannot imaging seeing many of them together?

    Wow what a powerful video the song is so moving especially with the images of older folks on the soldiers backs. The cherry blossoms are such a perfect symbol. This post is touching.

    On your ? about the PB cookies...yes you can use butter..or even apple suace. the shortening makes them crispier and fatter looking and the butter makes them softer and shorter. ;D

    LOVE your pretty images. When I lived in Vancouver, B.C. I would take all 3 kids to Stanley Park and walk under the cherry blossoms. The wind would pick up and the blossoms flew all over us. Magical.

    Your post brought sweet tears of love and prayers to my heart for Japan and those effected. Lovely flowers adn a very lovely post. I have tears drops flowing down as I type this comment. Everytime I think of them my heart crys.
    My prayers and lvoe go out to all those suffering so deeply in much loss and pain.

    This is beautiful Natasha. There are so many prayers going up for a people that have been devastated. It's just so sad to see what Mother Nature can unleash.

    A touching tribute to our dear friends and families in Japan. This year the dew that settles upon the cherry blossoms weep tears instead of misty droplets...
    The start of a poem I think fir a Sunday Song?

    I so miss the cherry blossom festival in DC and the National Mall. We all mourn the loss of Japan's country far beyond the insurgent rebels that terrorize the land.

    I didn't post my cherry blossoms for this specific purpose, but it certainly fits, doesn't it. It's a beautiful flower for a beautiful people. My dad traveled extensively to Japan for years for work. He loved them very much. I remember when he was sick with cancer, they gathered the entire plant outside for a photo of them holding up a huge GET WELL sign.

    What wonderful people. I am praying for them

    Thank you for sharing the beautiful photos of cherry blossoms. Each year in Washington (DC), a cherry blossom festival is held (beginning this year on March 26th), but with the recent events there will be sadness.

    What a sweet post! So heartfelt and beautiful. I didn't have anything I thought would be appropriate,so I said a prayer instead. It's so hard to comprehend the devastation, the pain and suffering there. I pray Gods strength and love touches each citizen of Japan.

    I love your blossoms! They remind us of hope and that life can go on after the harshness of winter, or in their case the harshness of disaster.
