But

A British Birthday Party for my British Mum!

I actually started writing this post about my mother's birthday party last year but I just realized that I didn't hit the publish button! You see, my Mum's birthday is a couple of days before Halloween, a couple of weeks before before my birthday and two months before Christmas so it is always a crazy and very busy time of year. She never makes a fuss about her birthday so last year Mr Attorney and I decided to surprise her and have a Blighty-inspired birthday party for my very British mum!

To set the scene for the very British party we searched the house for everything and anything British to help decorate our courtyard.

We have collected quite a few British bits and bobs on our travels!

I made a simple floral display with a teapot and some foliage from the garden.

To keep things simple we used disposable plates and utensils.

My Dad helped me hang some Union Jack bunting and light candles.

Let the party begin!

To set the mood we played lots of British music that I downloaded from itunes....a shameless plug for my

British Hit Singles 1957 Volume 2

We served British beverages....

Hasn't this beer got a brilliant name!

We had a BBQ dinner with salads and burgers.....

The food is not very British, I know, but mum loves nothing more than an Aussie Barbie so we
had to keep her happy!

Keep Calm and Carry On...

All in all we had a Blighty good time!

We hope you enjoyed your British Birthday party Mum!

Thanks for sharing these special memories with me and, of course, for visiting me today.  I love it when my sweet bloggy friends drop by to visit me in my little corner of the world Down Under!

Take care and I hope you have a fabulous week. See you on Tuesday for a Tuesday Tune!

Best wishes,
Natasha In Oz

  11. Natasha, You couldn't have done anything nicer for your Mother. I know she was touched and now honored with this recognition on your blog. I enjoyed all the British touches. Looks like a very nice party.
I learned something from you - the expression " a blighty good time" is new for me as many of our southern american sayings would be for you.
There is a magic in long-distance friendships.
