Tuesday Tune ~ Welcome, Winter!

O Winter! ruler of the inverted year, . . . I crown thee king of intimate delights, Fireside enjoyments, home-born happiness, And all the comforts that the lowly roof Of undisturb'd Retirement, and the hours Of long uninterrupted evening, know.
William Cowper (1731 - 1800), Task (bk. IV, l. 120)

Winter is the time for comfort, for good food and warmth, for the touch of a friendly hand and for a talk beside the fire: it is the time for home.

  4. Natasha, with the temps already reaching 100 here, I may be popping back frequently to cool off. Fun to think about such chilly images. ;-)

  19. Those photos look so wonderfully refreshing as I endure the 90+ degree weather! Normally, I'd not want the weather to get very, very cold - but looking at those photos, I would jump at the chance for some cozy chills.

    Thanks for sharing!

  20. The pictures make me want to snuggle up by a fire with a blanket wrapped around me! I enjoy winter for 10 days/year max. I grew up in Canada but now live in CA and am getting ready to move to the desert. The winter I spent in Sydney it rained cats and dogs every day...but I still had the time of my life.

  23. Gorgeous images in your post (as always!). I'm loving those socks - I've been looking around for some as we are getting cold of a night time up here. Still high 20's during the day but it has been getting down to 13 overnight (and that's cold for us up north!!!)
