But

I've been thinking....

I've really been thinking about how I keep comparing myself to others lately...

to friends, family, colleagues, other bloggers, celebrities and I have come to a profound conclusion....

I'm not like everyone else!

I am special, unique and an individual!

From now on, starting this week, the week I turn 40, I am going to focus more on being ME and not on being like everyone else.

Why has it taken an impending "BIG" birthday to make me reflect on my life? I guess I must have had the birthday blues last week but now I'm so happy to be turning 40, am comfortable with who I am and I am ready to enjoy the next 40 years of my life!

I guess I must be growing up!

Best wishes for a wonderful week,

Natasha

  15. Well spoken birthday girl! Wish I was just turning 40. I'm past 45. I think 45 was harder for me than 40. I'm still trying to embrace the age thing. But it does get easier to quit worrying about other people the older you get. Hope your day is a happy one and wishing you many more!

  25. Happy Birthday Natasha! As I just told another friend who was getting older along with me, "C'mon in, the water's fine!"

I think you know I am a cancer survivor and I've had 11 "bonus" birthdays. I just read that I am among the 20% who are cured (I prefer the word healed) from ovarian cancer. Life just doesn't look the same when you're blessed to be celebrating a healthy life as I am when I'm in the minority statistic.

When people complain about aging I always like to joke that it beats the alternative. ;) You are right that aging allows us the freedom to become comfortable in our own skin, to be true to ourselves and become the person God created us to be without apology. Enjoy your 40's (and beyond!)

  26. Happy birthday and you are right to not compare yourself. I always think of a Cher or Madonna, who if they had tried to be like someone else would not have become so famous themselves. Not that I am big fans fo theirs, simply I see that they have made a name for themselves by being an original. May you have a blessed birthday, and I'm a new follower. Thanks for your sweet words on my blog, and I need to check out Australia. I'll start with your blog.
