I will also be doing some heavy duty blog post planning in preparation for a busy term ahead next term. I will be taking another teaching contract which I'm ever so grateful for but I know it's going to be busy. I am going to try and prepare a few blog posts now so I will have some regular content next term. I don't want to fall into the trap that I fell into last year when I was so snowed under with work that I couldn't find time to look after my poor blog.
Thank goodness Google+ helped me get my numbers back up again-I would have been lost without Google+ traffic! I know I have already shared (many times!) how important Google+ is for bloggers but I just want to highlight yet another reason for us to keep giving our bloggy friends a +1!
Why is the plus 1 button important?
- highlighting posts that were +1'd by people in your circles and sharing them on your stream
- highlighting posts that were +1'd by you and sharing to your circles
You will see that the post below says Natasha in Oz +1′d this post. It's not saying that I shared it; I just +1′d it and now Google+ is showing it in my home stream.
Google, with all their algorithmic knowledge, determines whether or not a post is something you would be interested in and whether it should show in your home feed. Similarly, if you give a bloggy friend a plus 1, it might then show up in the home feed of some of the people in your circles.
Now, you are not going to see every single +1 of every single person in your circles. You can visit your settings to decide who, if anyone, might see your +1s highlighted in the stream by visiting the +1 Activity Updates page.
Also, if you’re seeing too much activity from a particular circle, you can "turn down its volume", or exclude it from your feed entirely by filtering your Home page using your circles. Privacy is controlled because if the original post that was +1′d was shared privately only the people in those private circles will see your activity on it.
The great thing about this is that, unlike Facebook, you can opt out of your friends seeing your +1's! I love this! You just go to settings/apps/activities and from there you can choose either "no one", "circles" or public. Now, I'm not recommending that this is done because the whole reason I love Google+ is because of its potential to increase views on my blog and to increase my reach! If one of my lovely blogger friends +1′s my post it has the potential to show up in the stream of their followers!
I know that I don't always have the time to reshare all of your fabulous posts, but I do know that it only takes me a split second to give you a +1. We can all benefit from the simple act of giving a +1 so I encourage you to be as generous as you can with your +1 power!
Best wishes,
Natasha In Oz

Some requests:
- Can we try visiting as many people as possible and leave a really quick comment just to let our friends know that we've visited? You could always just Say G'Day and get into the spirit of the Say G'day Party!
- Follow your fellow blogger somewhere, somehow. I think Google+ is a great place to find new bloggy friends, to find enormous support, build a friendly community and, of course, it will really help build your profile and help with Search Engine Optimization!
- Please turn of your word verification!
Please note: by linking up to the Say G'day Party, you are giving me permission to use any part of your post, including pictures, in feature posts on Natasha in Oz. I may also feature your posts on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest with all credit being given to the original source.
Thanks so much for linking up. I hope you might be able to find some time during the week to pop back and say g'day to a few of the talented bloggers who have shared their posts this week.
