The Montague on the Gardens is in an old Georgian townhouse that is literally steps away from The British Museum, really! It's also only two blocks from the Russell Square Underground station.
From the minute we walked into the hotel we felt like we were visiting friends in their private home.
This hotel is quiet, quaint and quintessentially British. Yes, the rooms are jewel-box like (they are small!) but they are beautifully decorated and contain everything you could possibly need. We had two interconnecting rooms and found them to be just right for us.
Each afternoon a little beverage station was set up with tea or coffee and biscuits. Because we were visiting at Christmas time the tea station was very festive indeed!
A full English breakfast is offered each morning and it is delicious!
During the warmer moths they offer al fresco dining on the wood deck but in the colder months the deck transforms into a 'ski lodge' complete with 'snow' and ski sleds!
