Favorite Springtime Recipe: Ploughman's Lunch

Originally a British farm worker's packed lunch, the ploughman's lunch contains meat, cheddar cheese, strong pickles and lots of bread. It's the perfect food for picnics and large gatherings because it is easy 'grazing' food that goes beautifully with a glass of wine, a cold ale, an apple cider or flavoured water. To minimise the amount of "work" at serving time, all items should be sliced, readily accessible and placed directly onto a serving board or platter.

Here's what you need to construct the ultimate Ploughman's Lunch!
Mature farmhouse cheddar
Any other cheeses you like - I always add Stilton, Red Leicester and wensleydale cheese.
Rare roast beef and leg ham slices
Cold Chicken slices
Pink radishes
Pickled onions, gherkin, cornichons, etc
Tomatoes
Hard-boiled eggs, peeled and halved
Sea salt and black pepper
Crusty bread and REAL butter
Fruit chutney, Branston Pickle, horseradish, hot mustard and piccalilli. You needs lots of delicious condiments!

Simply place all the ingredients it all on large serving platters or wooden boards and dig in!
