Here's some fast facts about my hometown, Brisbane!
- Brisbane is one of the oldest cities in Australia
- Brisbane was founded upon the ancient homelands of the indigenous Turrbal and Jagera peoples
- Brisbane is the capital of the Australian state of Queensland
- Brisbane's metropolitan area has a population of 2.35 million
- The Brisbane CBD is situated inside a bend of the Brisbane River
- Brisbane was chosen as a penal settlement and a place for secondary offenders from the Sydney Colony
- During World War II, Brisbane played a central role in the Allied campaign. It served as the South West Pacific headquarters for US Army General Douglas MacArthur
- "Bris Vegas" is a nickname given to the city and is been attributed to an Elvis Presley tribute CD and the city's growing live music scene
